Do I have to pay for a tree surgeon quote? When you call our number 01708 578 017, we will never tell you that you have to pay for the initial site visit. In order to provide you with a free quote we will take your details and pass them onto our Tree Surgeon. They will contact you directly and arrange a convenient time to come and visit your property. Can I receive a quotation over the phone? For us to accurately advise you of the cost and extent of any required work, it is important that one of our qualified tree surgeons carries out a site inspection. Unfortunately, it is really difficult for us cost a tree work job over the phone, because we have to take into take into account various factors, such as: access for machinery; equipment required to do the work, assessment of the trees in question and ease of disposal of the waste. Are your tree surgeons qualified? All our tree surgeons are fully qualified to carry out the tasks at hand. Tree surgery is a dangerous, risky profession and as such having the relevant certification to work with the specialist machinery and tools is a must. How much does it cost for my tree to be pruned? The cost for pruning a tree depends on several factors. Things that we take into account are: tree size, tree species and site accessibility. Can tree surgeons also trim hedges?
Yes! Tree Surgeons Essex use quality hedge trimmers to ensure that hedges are trimmed properly, without causing damage. Trying to do the job yourself or getting an inexperienced hedge cutter could result in your hedges being ruined.
When will you be able to carry out the work after I have accepted the quotation?
We will always try to get your work booked in as soon as possible. However, during the winter months (October to February) poor weather conditions can delay things. March to September can be our busiest time and because of this, there could be a wait of up to 3 to 4 weeks.
Do I need to be at home when the work is done?
No, as long as we have access to the work that needs to be completed it is not necessary to be home for us to complete your job. Customers are generally happy for us to carry out work in their absence, knowing that the work will be done efficiently, with the minimum amount of ground disturbance and the area will be being left nice and tidy.
Can I prune my neighbour’s trees that overhang my fence?
Dependent upon the circumstances, it may be possible to prune trees that are growing over your boundary from your next-door neighbour’s garden. Gov.uk states that: ‘you can trim branches or roots that cross into your property from a neighbour’s property or a public road. You can only trim up to the property boundary. If you do more than this, your neighbour could take you to court for damaging their property.'
During the summer months my hedge grows out into the street. Do I have to cut it back or is it the councils job?
If you have a hedge or tree that is causing an obstruction to passers-by, it’s best that you hire a tree surgeon to trim it for you. If you don’t, the highways authority have the right to go into your property without your permission to do the work themselves and on top of that, they may charge you for this.
Am I able to cut down all of the trees that are in my garden?
If you think that one or some of the trees in your garden are protected, it is important that you check with your Local Council first to see if there is a Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) on the tree/s. A TPO is an order that has been made to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands to preserve the facility and nicety of said vegetation.

I would like to access your tree stump removal service, however where it is is really awkward to get to. Is that a problem?
We are in the daily habit of accessing trees and stumps in awkward places - call it a hazard of the job! It’s very rare that we are unable to access tree stumps and the best thing to do in this situation is to book us in for a site assessment. We have specialist equipment that can be taken through small areas (like side accesses) and if that fails, we can remove the stump the old-fashioned way – by hand!
