The team were recently called upon to carry out a tree survey at Walsingham House, Navestock, Brentwood. Whilst undertaking a climbing inspection, we found deadwood within the crown of this tree, large dead stems and a decayed / leaning trunk. Deadwood within trees is a natural process for some fast-growing tree species and is fairly common in mature trees. Reasons for its occurrence can range from fungal colonization to disease or lack of sap. The images in this blog demonstrate the extent of the hollow trunk, and highlight why it is vital to have your trees inspected.
